Quick Singles: Who's afraid of the MCG?
England are, unable to hit sixes until the 4th ball of the last over they seemed to be caught in the headlights obsessed with the size of the ground. Sure you should be taking advantage of the wide space to turn those singles into twos and run the odd three or four but you need to spread the field…
Nasser Hussain is definitely scared of the MCG. He is so petrified of the ground that he calls it G.
Most of the players in England Twenty20 are touch players. You can only count KP as the hitter, but if others tried to hoik a ball out of the ground, then they would barely clear the boundary.
I was surprised Bell didn’t try to bat out till the end. If he had then the result would have been different. He should have just looked for the gaps and in his form - he would have found gaps for twos, threes and fours easily, but he tried to hoik the ball out of the ground..
It was good to see Australia finally get a win, though. Am pleased for Brett Lee.
